Bayern Munich missed all four of their penalties as Borussia Dortmund reached the German Cup final after a shootout.

Only Sebastian Kehl and Ilkay Gundogan scored from seven penalty-takers, with Bayern's Xabi Alonso and Philipp Lahm slipping as they took their spot-kicks.

Mario Gotze was denied and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer hit the bar as Dortmund booked their trip to Berlin on 30 May.

Robert Lewandowski gave Bayern the lead in normal time before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang levelled.

Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp, who is leaving the club at the end of the season, will attempt to win the cup for a second time in his last match.

Arminia Bielefeld and Wolfsburg play in Wednesday's second semi-final.

Bayern, who were crowned German champions for a record 25th time on Sunday, started the match still in a position to emulate the success of Jupp Heynckes' side, who won a Champions League, Bundesliga and cup treble in 2013.

But despite dominating for much of normal time at the Allianz Arena, they failed to find the killer touch that would have befitted their dominance of possession and dangerous-looking build-up play.

The home side looked to be cruising after Lewandowski opened the scoring, the Polish striker finishing from a tight angle after his chipped shot came back off the post.

Dortmund only registered their first shot on target with 72 minutes played but levelled just three minutes later when Aubameyang slid in at full stretch to meet Henrikh Mkhitaryan's cross.

The away side had substitute Kevin Kampl sent off in extra time after picking up a second yellow card but held on for penalties as Bastian Schweinsteiger twice missed with headers from close range.

With four league games left to play, Bayern can now turn their attention to Barcelona, who they face at the Nou Camp in a Champions League semi-final first-leg on 6 May.

The German champions may be without Arjen Robben, however, as the Dutch winger was withdrawn with an apparent calf strain just 14 minutes after coming on as a second-half substitute on his return from injury.

"I am very proud of my team," said Bayern boss Pep Guardiola. "We played very well. I congratulate Dortmund."

"That was a hell of a game," said Klopp. "Both teams gave everything and Bayern were certainly superior in the first half, but we more than deserved to equalise in the second. Today was our day."

Norwich 0 Middlesbrough 1: Alexander Tettey own goal takes Boro top

Alexander Tettey's own goal gifted Middlesbrough a crucial 1-0 win against Norwich as Boro returned to the top of the Sky Bet Championship on Friday night.

After damaging back-to-back away defeats to fellow promotion hopefuls Bournemouth and Watford, Boro boss Aitor Karanka said before the game that defeat at Carrow Road would have spelt the end of their top-two hopes - but they are now on course to end their six-year hiatus from the Barclays Premier League.

With Middlesbrough now top of the table it is hard to describe this 1-0 victory as an upset - but Norwich had won 12 in 15 games, and came into the clash on a five-match winning streak.

Karanka's side had the better of the first half and took the lead in the eighth minute as a vital touch from Tettey sent Grant Leadbitter's corner into his own net.

Although Alex Neil saw the hosts dominate play after the interval, they still could not create a clear-cut chance and it was Middlesbrough who came closest to adding to their lead.

The first chance of the evening fell to Jelle Vossen as Patrick Bamford flicked on Albert Adomah's cross, but the Belgian could only angle a shot over John Ruddy's crossbar.

The visitors had settled the quickest and carved Norwich open again soon after - but this time Sebastien Bassong was on hand to cut out Bamford's cross - with Vossen free in the area.

Middlesbrough got the goal their early endeavours deserved as Leadbitter's resulting corner came off the back of the unwitting Tettey and beat Ruddy at his back post - with Adomah unable to get a touch in time to claim the goal for himself.

Things could have got worse for Neil's side on 12 minutes as Bamford's mishit shot was collected by Lee Tomlin, whose low cross was almost turned in by Ruddy.

Bamford and Tomlin were causing problems for the experienced Norwich defence and the former got in behind the Norwich backline again before hitting a tame effort towards goal.

Jonny Howson passed up a great chance to equalise when he glanced a header wide when picked out in the middle of the penalty area - with the Canaries still not up to the speed of the game.

The midfielder, who scored in the win at former club Leeds during the week, then exchanged passes with Wes Hoolahan but saw his effort deflected and was caught out by a defensive flick at the back post as he once again failed to nod home from Johnson's delivery.

Brendan Rodgers will stick with formation, says Phil Thompson

Phil Thompson does not believe a radical formation change is necessary for Brendan Rodgers to get Liverpool's season back on track.

After a 14-game unbeaten run in the Premier League, Liverpool have now lost two on the bounce against top-four rivals Manchester United and Arsenal respectively, with Champions League qualification now appearing out of reach.

The back-to-back defeats have prompted calls for a change from the 3-4-2-1 formation that is no longer proving successful, but Sky Sports pundit Thommo says Rodgers merely needs to react better when Liverpool are being overrun.

Thommo told Sky Sports: “The system is OK, but certain teams have sussed it out, and Brendan needs to be brave enough to switch to 4-4-1-1 – or whatever he thinks is best at that moment – to stop these games getting away from them.
